The Journal of Games, Analytics, Modeling (J-GAMES) is a newly established international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal, founded in 2026 to provide a dedicated scholarly venue for research on games and game-related systems grounded in analytical, empirical, and computational approaches.
J-GAMES was created in response to the expanding role of data-driven methods, modeling, and systematic analysis in the study of games, gameplay, and player engagement. The journal focuses on research addressing games, game-based learning, player behavior, analytics, and computational and statistical modeling, including the study of engagement with interactive and textual game content.
As a new journal, J-GAMES seeks to foster an interdisciplinary research community bringing together perspectives from game studies, learning sciences, data analytics, computer science, and related fields. The journal publishes original research articles, methodological contributions, and theoretical work that advance understanding of how games are designed, experienced, analyzed, and applied across educational, cultural, and research contexts.
J-GAMES is committed to rigorous peer review, transparency in scholarly communication, and the broad dissemination of research through open-access publishing. The journal welcomes submissions and participation from researchers, educators, designers, and analysts interested in shaping the direction of this emerging scholarly forum.
